Intentional Interim Minister
Donald is a minister with 21 years of full-time ordained experience, three years of part-time experience and six years of church experience prior to ordination. He was ordained in 1983 in the United Methodist Church and in 1988 was admitted into the Order of Ministry of the United Church of Canada.
In 2002, he achieved his designation as an Intentional Interim Minister, and as required, he was re-designated in 2004, 2006 and again just recently in 2008. Donald’s educational experience includes a Master’s degree, magna cum laude, Honours Program in ethics, philosophy and sociology from Nazarere Theological School in Kansas City, Missouri. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Music Theory and Composition from Indiana Wesleyan University. Donald has broadened his knowledge base with professional development courses in Conflict Management: Models for Congregational Life, Training in United Church’s Alternate Dispute Resolution as well as his Interim Ministry Training.
Donald is currently completing an Intentional Interim Ministry at Southminster United Church in Ottawa. Before his current ministry he successfully completed Intentional Interim Ministries at Wesley United Church in Ottawa and Spencerville - Roebuck Pastoral Charge, a two-point rural charge.
In addition to his Intentional Interim Ministries, Donald has served as a Called Minister at Hawkesbury- Cassburn Pastoral Charge and Grace - St-Andrews United Church in Arnprior. Donald brings many talents to his role as our Intentional Interim Minister. He has a well-developed personal faith; he has experience working with people of all ages; he has been involved with the support, training and active participation in lay pastoral care teams; he practices a facilitative church leadership style; he has great listening skills; he has a music major and has great respect for the place of the music program in the church. He has gained a lot of experience working with other church staff.
We believe that we have in Donald, our Intentional Interim Minister, who will, over the course of the next two or more years, lead all of us as a congregation to understand and achieve the lofty goals that the Transition Team has established.
