Rev. Jim Leland
Rev. Jim Leland was born in St. Stephen, NB. He attended teacher’s college in Fredericton NB and taught school in both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
He graduated from Acadia University, Wolfville, NS with a BA degree and studied theology for one year at King’s College, Halifax NS and then for 3 years at Queen’s University, Kingston, ON, graduating in 1971.
Jim served several pastoral charges in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia before coming to Ontario in 2000.
Jim has received numerous awards from the Federal Government, the province of New Brunswick, the Canadian Jewish Congress, the Atlantic Jewish Council, Hadassah-Wizo for his work in Holocaust Education, and his active involvement in combating racism and anti-Semitism in the Atlantic Region.
He also received an award for his work done on behalf of Russian Refuseniks during Operation Exodus Campaign.
Jim retired three years ago but has spent the last three years serving first at Dominion - Chalmers in Ottawa and then at Knox - St. Paul’s in Cornwall. Jim is married to Nora and they have four children and nine grandchildren.
Upon his next retirement he plans to study Latin, art history, and the history of ancient Greece and Rome.
